Principles for Those Who Lead

Leadership

This section presents AFADEL’s vision of how leaders should exercise authority: serving their people, protecting sovereignty, strengthening institutions, preserving peace, and building a better future.

No Generation Should Inherit Guilt

What responsibility does a son bear for the decisions of his father? And what responsibility did the father bear for decisions imposed by earlier generations?

Before condemning today’s leaders, we must understand the agreements, conflicts, and imbalances of power created decades ago. Many decisions made today did not originate in the present—they are responses to old treaties, foreign interventions, sanctions, wars, and inherited resentment.

Understanding history does not mean excusing present-day mistakes. Every leader must answer for their own decisions, but no one should automatically be punished for the actions of their ancestors.

Peace requires us to separate individual responsibility from inherited guilt, reconsider outdated agreements, and adapt them to today’s reality. We cannot build the future by forcing every new generation to continue the wars of the past.

Enough is enough.
